Sophie's 3rd Birthday Party

Our big present for Sophie was Strawberry Castle: four rooms, observatory (where Claire is), garden terrace, great hall with weapons antlers and a huge fireplace--there are even bats in the belfry!
Sophie designed her own flag with unicorns and strawberries. Her favorite colors are red, orange and green.

 "Don't come in Mom!"

 The drawbridge really works!
She thought it was pretty great.

Cherry chip/confetti double tier with stabilized whipped cream frosting.
 Kalia, Claire and Sophie.
Blowing up balloons. I was going to do all of them beforehand but then realized I could make it a party game and save myself the vertigo!
It takes a village to blow out a candle.
Time to call in Karlee for the finishing blow.
We were so happy to see the Capsons again for Sophie's party. Adam was extra happy--he's the puddle on the couch while Josh fixes his neck!

The Last Weekend Before Claire Started Kindergarten

Eloise's hair is long enough for pigtails and when I distract her (a trick my friend taught me) she forgets they're there and leaves them in!

Sisters digging in the sand before Kindergarten began.

Eloise tells me jokes, "Mama-----HOOOO! Ha ha ha!"

The Tickle Monster got Claire and she dropped her blue candy (see it leaving her mouth in the next picture)--she was very upset about that!

Dad and Claire intently watching some science happen.
Nasty--it was just a dead bird. Adam was having Claire observe the cormorant's webbed feet.
 Cute little sand birds.

Puddle stomping in the ocean is fantastic stress relief!

Eloise showing off her buck tooth--it's twice the size of any of the others!

First day of kindergarten, Pioneer School, Mrs Yee's Rice Owls class. The Rice Owls caused some family upheaval because neither Adam nor I believed Claire was saying it correctly. I thought she meant "Rise, Owls!" because it was a line command and Adam thought it was "Wise Owls!" Claire was very mad at us until I saw it written out and we apologized and gave her mint ice cream (her favorite). It turned out that her teacher attended Rice University.

Very excited to enter school! She had a great day and already adores her teacher. We know you'll do wonderful things Miss Claire!
